BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

TELECONFERENCE CALL

August 5, 2009

 

The meeting was called to order by President, Steve Ballentine at 8:30 pm.

 

The following members were present and constituted a quorum: Doug Bennink, Mary Bynum, Elliott Fayssoux, Steve Cothran, Michele Jenkins, Bob Brantley, Doug Gaddis, and Rick Cunningham.

 

Board members not in attendance:  Sharon Bieber, Jill Simmons, Jane Simmons, and Fred Bieber.

 

Staff present: Nancy Shultz

 

The meeting was held to discuss 1) the state cup play date for the U17 boys challenge division and 2) fines for clubs not attending the president’s workshop.

 

1) Steve Cothran presented the following options:

 

Option 1

CESA would play the other winner of their first round match before Saturday, December 19.  This semi final match would be played in either Greenville or Columbia depending on where the other team is located (i.e. if CESA’s opponent is from the Upstate District the game would be played in the upstate at a neutral field.  If the opponent is from Coastal District the game would be played in Columbia.  It the team is from the Midstate District the game would be played in Columbia at a neutral field.) The other semifinal match would be played at Manchester on December 12.  The U17 Boys Championship would be held in either Columbia or Greenville depending on where the other finalist is located as noted above.

 

Option 2

Move the U17 Boys Championship to December 19, 20 to a site to be determined. (i.e. if CESA’s opponent is from the Upstate District the game would be played in the upstate at a neutral field. If the opponent is from the Coastal District the game would be played in Columbia.  If the team is from the Midstate district the game would be played in Columbia at a neutral field.)

 

Steve made a motion to approve Option 1 for the U17 Challenge Cup for 2009.  Mary seconded the motion.

 

THE MOTION PASSED

 

Steve Ballentine will notify the National League and Steve Cothran will notify the U17 teams.

 

2) Clubs not attending the president’s workshop were: Toluca, James Island, Hilton Head-Bluffton, and CESA-Columbia.  Previously clubs that did not attend were fined $250.00.

 

Bob made a motion to fine Toluca South Carolina, James Island Youth Soccer Club, Hilton Head-Bluffton Soccer Club and CESA-Columbia $250.00 for not attending the president’s workshop.  Steve C. seconded the motion.

 

THE MOTION PASSED

 

District Commissioners will notify the clubs and make sure to collect the fines which are due 30 days from receipt of notice.

 

The meeting adjourned at 9:08 pm.
