BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

The meeting was called to order by President Steve Ballentine at 3:55pm.
The following members were present and constituted a quorum:
Fred Bieber, Steve Ballentine, Cathy Ballentine, Mary Bynum, Sharon Bieber, Bob Brantley, Doug Gaddis, Barry Bynum, Jane Simmons, Michele Jenkins, Dawn Anderson, Tom Pietras and Lisa Miller
Guests present: Van Taylor, SCYSA Director of Coaching Development and Player Education, Nancy Shultz, SCYSA Administrative Assistant and Jim Marczesky.
Bob made a motion to accept the June 13, 2004 BOD minutes as amended. Jane seconded the motion.
The motion carried unanimously.

Risk Management
Cathy made a motion to have two BOD members trained by Darkness to Light to assist in the prevention of Child Sexual Abuse at a cost of $500.
Bob made a motion to table the motion. Mary seconded the motion.
The motion carried unanimously.

CUPS & GAMES DIRECTOR: Barry
Barry made a motion for SCYSA to provide shirts for Premier and Challenge teams representing SC at Regionals. Registration fees would not be paid by SCYSA. Bob seconded the motion.
The motion carried unanimously.

PIEDMONT DISTRICT COMMISSIONER: Michele
Michele made a motion to allow the Piedmont and Midstate Commissioners to purchase new computers and printers, with each Commissioner spending no more than $2000. Doug seconded the motion.
Tom made a friendly amendment to increase the amount to no more than $2,500.
Michele and Doug accepted the friendly amendment.
The motion carried unanimously.
MIDSTATE DISTRICT COMMISSIONER: Sharon
COASTAL DISTRICT COMMISSIONER: Cathy
Barry made a motion to pay $40 per game for First Round of State Cup field usage. Doug seconded that motion.
Discussion held.
Motion withdrawn.
STATE ADMINISTRATOR FOR BOYS: Dawn
STATE ADMINISTRATOR FOR GIRLS: Mary

STATE YOUTH RECREATION DIRECTOR: Doug

Bob made a motion to allow the Rules and Compliance board to grant approval of bylaws to clubs, conditional on required changes being made by September 12th, 2004. Michele seconded the motion.
The motion carried unanimously.
OLD BUSINESS:
§ Cathy asked if all SC Premier teams were approved. Jane stated that all but three were approved.
§ Discussion held on SCSCL teams without proper representation at today’s required Coaches’ Meeting.
Barry made a motion to fine SCSCL teams without proper representation at the required Coaches’ Meeting the amount indicated in the League Administrator’s e-mail or $100 per team. Sharon seconded the motion.
The motion carried.
§ Barry will handle notification.
Michele made a motion to fine clubs without proper representation at the SCYSA Presidents’ Workshop $250 and require them to meet with their District Commissioner. Mary seconded the motion.
Barry made a friendly amendment to make the fine the same as the SCSCL fine.
Michele and Mary accepted the friendly amendment.
The motion carried.
ELECTIONS:
§ Dawn Anderson was elected ODP Boys Administrator.
§ Barry Bynum was elected Cups and Games Director.
§ Jim Marczesky was elected Vice President.
§ Bob Brantley was elected Rules and Compliance Director.
§ Per our bylaws, Fred Bieber will serve as Member at Large.
NEW BUSINESS:
§ Discussed Northside’s fields.

FOR THE GOOD OF THE GAME:
§ Steve thanked Fred Bieber for his many years of service to SCYSA.
§ Bradley Bieber was recognized for being selected to go to USYSA Nationals to referee.
Dawn made a motion to adjourn. Michele seconded the motion.
The motion carried unanimously and the meeting adjourned at 6:40 pm.
