SCYSA Boys Coach of the Year
SCYSA recognizes Coach Ron Sykes for
the 2006 SCYSA Boys Coach of the Year because of this
dedication and constant attention to his players. While
it’s easy to get caught up in winning and losing the game,
Coach Sykes knows that healthy growth of the players demands
something more than a “W” in the score box. Coach Sykes
knows that the game of soccer is the game of life and
everyone should be a winner. >>MORE

SCYSA Girls Coach of the Year
Keith Shrum’s knowledge and hard work
with training teams, coupled with a positive approach
to the game where fun is emphasized, has given SCYSA pause
to honor him with the highest honor for girls’ coaches
in South Carolina. SCYSA is proud to bestow this award
on one of our finest in the game. Despite his wizened
ways in the game, however, he continues to be a student
of soccer and tries to find new and fun ways to teach
his team. >>MORE

everyone in the game, and his desire to become a state
referee so that he can assess to that level and help others
attain a state badge is another example of the insight
demonstrating his unselfish nature. >>MORE

Young Male Referee of the Year
It’s always a pleasure to have our children involved in
the game of soccer, but those who go beyond the simple
pleasures of watching or playing the game, those who educate
themselves and work to know the game inside and out are
the ones who make soccer happen in our state. South
Carolina Youth Soccer Association is pleased to present
this award to Kenneth Johnson, the 2006
