2007 Young Male Referee of the
Year
One of the best. That’s
what the buzz around Dalton Betzen has been in the tents
and on the soccer fields in the state of South Carolina.
Now, SC Youth Soccer is proud to recognize Dalton as the
best young male referee contributing to the Beautiful
Game. Maturity and a positive attitude brings successful
conclusions to each game he referees. One spectator recently
called Dalton’s style “methodical” and “unmatched by any
other youth referee in the state.
As an honor roll student at Wando High
School he shares his vigor for academics with that of
game mechanics. Flagmanship and positioning requires discipline
and constant attention. Here again, Dalton demonstrates
his virtuosity time and again. To be so young, Dalton
has already been assigned men’s adult games and executed
his talent flawlessly.
Charleston Area Soccer Referee Association
(CASRA) recently saw his match count climb to over 200
games, with more than half of these as the center referee.
Fred Hughes, Vice President of the Charleston Area Soccer
Referee Association, commented that Dalton is also very
receptive to taking tips. “His referee mechanics and concentration
are excellent. Dalton is very teachable, a quick study
and is learning to portray a strong presence on the pitch.
His maturity and demeanor are great assets, which enable
him to perform at al levels of competition.
SC Youth Soccer proudly acknowledges Dalton
Betzen as South Carolina’s best young male referee.
