2008 Keynote Address
Coach Polson spoke on the challenges facing parents
and coaches on and off the field. The speech, given
at the 2008 Awards luncheon, included tips on when

Male Youth Referee of the Year
SC Youth Soccer rarely has the opportunity to celebrate
those who have mastered their level in governing soccer
fields, enforcing rules and controlling the safety of
our children. Fred Glasgow has developed into one of
these outstanding referees in the Upstate, recently working
Region III Premier League East Division games and demonstrating
his ability to take control and keep control to ensure
"the beautiful game" maintains its fairness

Year
The goals and objectives for coaches are dependent
on the character and discipline of their inner drive.
Coach John Markley has strength in character and
discipline that has earned the respect of players
and coaches beyond his own community at Grand Strand
Family YMCA. SC Youth Soccer is very pleased to recognize
him as this year's Girl's Coach of the Year. >>MORE
2008 SCYSA Boy's Coach of the
Year
This year's Boy's SC Youth Soccer Coach of the Year is
a living legend in South Carolina soccer. Coach Gonzalo "Gonzo" Chavarria
has developed a reputation as the "top notch" coach
all the parents and kids want to play under in the Greenwood
and Lexington communities. With more than 20 years of
coaching experience, he backs up his reputation with
a USSF "C" license, making him one of the most
qualified SC Youth Soccer coaches in the state. >>MORE

SCYSA Publix Parent of the Year Award
SC Youth Soccer is pleased to announce the selection
of Randy Glenn for the 2008 "Publix Parent of the
Year."
Each year South Carolina Youth Soccer serves coaches,
volunteers, administrators and nearly 20,000 youth players
through soccer programs that foster the physical, mental
