Travel Procedures
for
Teams Traveling Outside of South Carolina
DEFINITIONS:
Sanctioned Travel (SC Youth Soccer C.2.c) is any out of state travel approved by South Carolina Youth Soccer to matches, competitions and events with organizations affiliated with US Youth Soccer so the benefits of affiliation with South Carolina Youth Soccer apply to the travel. Only a team in good standing with South Carolina Youth Soccer and traveling to a tournament or games that have been approved by an affiliated National State Association of US Youth Soccer will be sanctioned to travel.
Non-sanctioned Travel (SC Youth Soccer C.2.d)is any out of state travel to matches, competitions, or events with organizations NOT affiliated with USYS or any of its State Associations. This does not apply to international competitions at home or abroad. SCYS teams/players choosing to travel out of state to participate in unaffiliated play do not need permission or travel forms from SCYS and will not be representing SCYS nor carrying any SCYS insurance coverage, UNLESS the State Association of USYS has approved the Permission to Host Agreement as an “unrestricted tournament.” No person, group, or entity shall by affirmative misrepresentation or by the failure to disclose material facts mislead any other person into believing that travel to or participation in non-sanctioned events or travel is authorized, approved, or otherwise sanctioned by SCYS or USYS.
Unaffiliated Play (SC Youth Soccer Rule C.2.b): Any matches, competitions, or events with organizations NOT affiliated with SCYS or other State Associations of USYS shall be considered unaffiliated play with the exception of international competitions, at home or abroad.
SCYS team/players choosing to participate in unaffiliated play do not need permission or travel forms from SCYS and will not be representing SCYS nor carrying any SCYS insurance coverage, unless SCYS or other State Associations of USYS have approved the Permission to Host Agreement as an “unrestricted tournament.”
*Be sure you understand the above definitions as they pertain to South Carolina Youth Soccer Travel Procedures prior to completing a request for “Notification to Travel” or “Application to Travel”.
