BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

CONFERENCE CALL

June 26, 2006

 

The conference call was started by President, Steve Ballentine at 7:00 pm.

 

The following members were present and constituted a quorum:  Barry Bynum, Steve Cothran, Lisa Miller, Jane Simmons, Michele Jenkins, Sharon Bieber, Cathy Ballentine, Mary Bynum, Fred Bieber, Bob Brantley, Doug Gaddis and Rick Cunningham.

 

Guests present: Nancy Shultz, SCYSA Administrative Assistant.

 

Barry is to discuss changes suggested by the coaching committee.

 

Michele is to discuss the Code of Ethics/Conduct

 

Barry made a motion to accept the changes to the transfer rule to read, “Transfer – a player who is currently or was previously rostered on an Official SCYSA Team roster requesting and being moved onto the Official Team Roster of another team or the return of a released player to the same roster within the current seasonal year.  All requests for transfer must have the explanation portion of the form properly filled out by the player’s receiving coach, and the transferring player’s current pass should accompany this transaction.  No transferred player may compete with a new team until he/she receives a new player pass for that team and appears on that team’s roster. Any player transferring to another club, without their present coach’s signature on the transfer form, will be required to wait 30 days from the date the transfer form was received by the SCYSA State Registrar/designee before they can be rostered to another team. The player’s present coach may approve and sign the transfer form and the player will be released from their current team and eligible to be rostered to another team immediately upon the completion of the transfer form by the SCYSA State Registrar/designee. Any player changing their primary residence by a minimum of 50 miles may request to be transferred to another team without their present coach’s approval or a 30 day waiting period. Doug seconded the motion.

Cathy made a motion to change the definition of Tryout to read, “A tryout is an occasion at which a player attends a selection process that may directly result in that player being selected to play for a classic team within that club for the next seasonal year. SCYSA member organizations may not conduct any U11-U19 tryouts involving any players registered with another SCYSA member organization until the trout dates specified on the SCYSA calendar. Michele seconded the motion.

 

THE MOTION PASSED.

 

 

 

Michele made a motion to accept the SCYSA Code of Ethics/Conduct as amended.  Cathy seconded the motion.

 

THE MOTION PASSED.

 

Michele made a motion to include the definition of Recruiting and Unethical Recruiting into the SCYSA Rules.  Recruiting will be defined as “A player may only be recruited after the completion of his/her State Cup competition until such time the player is registered or rostered with the SCYSA State Registrar/designee for the next seasonal year. (State Cup includes: State Cup, Region Cup and National Cup.) Unethical Recruiting will be defined as any intentional act whereby coaches or parents contact a player, outside of their club, who is registered or rostered on another SCYSA team to entice that player to join their team before his/her State Cup competition is completed. (State Cup competition includes: State Cup, Region Cup, and National Cup.) Jane seconded the motion.
