                           Soccer Goal Safety Update

There has been some important recent activity on new soccer goal safety legislation in several states that merits your review. The state of Wisconsin and, just in the past weeks, the state of Arkansas has passed legislation mandating the anchoring of all soccer goals as outlined by the Consumer Product Safety Commission's Guidelines for Movable Soccer Goal Safety. US Youth Soccer has also learned that there are discussions on similar goal legislation being had at the state government level in both Illinois and New York.

The passing of the Arkansas legislation comes on the heels of a tragic goal tip-over death this past January in which a nine year old boy, Jonathan Brian Nelson, was killed when an unanchored, alleged homemade style goal fell on him while playing at his elementary school in Bentonville, Arkansas.
