2012 Kohl's American Cup Concludes

South Carolina News
Sumter, SC- Over 1600 players participated in the SC Youth Soccer sponsored Kohl’s American Cup and Palmetto Academy Cup that were held April 14 and 15 in Sumter at Patriot Park. Over the span of the two day tournament an estimated amount of over 5000 people showed up to Patriot Park to play or watch some high quality youth soccer. With 128 teams participating we saw the crowning of 17 champions of their respective divisions. Champions hailed from all over the state including Columbia, Lexington, Clemson, James Island and Sumter to name a few.
On Saturday morning all attendees were treated to seeing Captain Telegram of 107.5 The Game floating high above the park in a hot air balloon. Games that morning started at 8:30 and all the teams in the tournaments were full of hope of a successful weekend full of great soccer. The weather was absolutely beautiful the entire weekend and clearly wanted to watch some great soccer along with the rest of the spectators.
Many spectators especially the kids found the Kohl’s fun area a great way to spend their time in the park. At any given time there was always upwards of 15 kids either shooting on one of the two goal inflatables or even using the area for a place to stay in the shade. With the sound of Radio Disney in the background the Kohl’s staff had many t-shirt and promotional giveaways which brought smiles to all those lucky winner’s faces.
As games Saturday wore down and play got started Sunday morning the parks atmosphere was becoming much more tense and serious. Players, coaches and parents were now focused on hopefully becoming the champions of their divisions. Many great games were played all day Sunday including a number of semi-finals and of course all of the championship games. After a long weekend where all 128 teams played hard we ended with these 17 pairs of division champions and finalists:
