RE: ODP Inter Regionals Cancelled
We would like to thank the USYS Family for their ongoing support as we manage the complexities of our programming given current health and travel conditions. The safety and security of our soccer community is, and always will be, our highest priority!
While we are all encouraged by the number of states that have returned to full play, we also know that our clubs and teams need our support to help drive the stability and growth of our sport. Programs like USYS ODP Camps, while great for individual player development, pull players away from their teams and impact their preparation for league matches. We are also faced with the cross-state travel restrictions that would impose a 14-day quarantine on players once they return from the event, that could have a heavy impact on clubs and teams across the country. These same travel restrictions would also impact ODP staff attendance.
At this time, and in the best interests of our ODP Family, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the upcoming ODP Inter Regionals. While this cancellation is disappointing, it will allow players to focus attention on their teams’ participation in local or State Association programming. This shift will also allow USYS to focus budgetary resources on the National League Showcase Series events later this year and in 2021.

While we face this challenging environment TOGETHER, we want to acknowledge the hard work and effort of the ODP coaches and staff, who support and develop players as part of our ODP programming. We look forward to the opportunity to see ODP players in action in 2021 and we encourage everyone to continue their training and excelling with their current teams.
